"Boom Boom Boom Let's Go Back To My Room..."

"…so I can feed you all night and baby make you feel right….ohoohoh!"

There’s a BABY BOOM!

A surplus of babies all around. It’s crazy, and the best part is it’s happening to my nearest and dearest!

I’d been feeling a bit panicky lately. Why? Maybe because my C is one of the only boys in my immediate circle of friends, except for our newest dude, Lucas, the rest are all girls! Although it’s great for mini-Mi, it’s not necessarily so great for C.

Here were some of my concerns:

1. He’ll be stuck playing house and always being the daddy figure (mind you, they can pretend to be a polygamous family and C can have many wives…may not be a bad deal after all).

2. Tea time will always take precedence over playtime with cars, picking worms and playing in the mud.

3. He’ll be used as a science project for hair and makeup, he has super long lashes and curly auburn hair, what more can any girl ask for?

So, having said all that, I no longer need to worry because my best friend in the entire world is having a BOY! Yes folks…my sister is pregnant and bringing us a baby boy! It’s the greatest gift anyone (especially moi) can ask for.

Now, the second surprise? My BCF (best cousin forever) Ler is also pregnant! Nice! Two babies will make their way into this world in less than 2 months apart. Hopefully, she too will bring us a boy, although, a girl will be just as nice. At least for mini-Mi, she’ll have her closest cousin only a year younger!

January and March 2008 are much anticipated!

Anita & Ler…..I am truly overjoyed and super excited for both of you. I think you guys are going to make great moms. Anita, I can already attest, you will be the comical mom who will dress her little man in a variety of farm animal outfits just to humor us. And Ler, I am certain you are already in process of preparing a fashionable wardrobe for a mini-you (or a mini-Dave, of course!)

All my blessings to both of you! May you enjoy your freedom now, relish in the ability to sleep as much as you can, because before you know it, all will change the moment your little rascals enter this universe...and by that I mean it changes for the better! Your world is going to be filled with a kind of love that is unimaginable…

Of all the rights of a woman, the greatest is to be a mother.

Congrats!

Day 4 - All Crouped Up

Ok. so, it looks like school is canceled again. The entire city is on edge anticipating another visit today...this time from Felix. I guess it's a good thing (school being canceled) considering my son's condition.

My baby was up all night, coughing and fussing cause he didn't feel well. Maybe it's my imagination, or the fact that I was so traumatized from the last time, but it sounds like he's got that nasty barking/chirping sound when he coughs, just like he did last year when he was hospitalized for several days with Croups.

Let’s hope it’s not the case this time around….especially since he was practically making out with his Mini-Mia all day yesterday!

Off to the doctor we go…

Day 3 - Damn You Henriette

Ready.
Set.
Out the door....

...with Mia in one arm, my purse in the other and C waiting for us at the car door. My cell phone rang. It was the Director from C's school telling me school's been canceled! The crazy weather we had yesterday afternoon/evening knocked down a tree in the playground which in turn knocked out all the power in the school.
No lights. No AC.

So, I turned around and headed back inside. What did Cristian do?

"No mommy, tebrots yertank!" (Translation: Let's go to school!)

Nice! Let's just hope he's as willing and excited tomorrow...

Day 2 - Three Hours a Day Isn't Long!

“Ok Cristian, it’s time to go to school!”

Cristian was standing at the door with his lunchbox ready to leave. We got to school and I parked the car down the street. I gave him a quick pep talk as we walked hand in hand.

We arrived to the front of the school where the principal and his pretty teacher were standing there with smiles on their faces and open arms. He looked around and bent down. He placed his lunchbox on the sidewalk, turned the other direction and started walking towards the car. 'NOT AGAIN?' I thought! (What's the deal with leaving his lunchbox behind? I still don't get that!)

The principal quickly nabbed him and took him through the gates towards the playground. There was a thirty second moment where he yelled for ‘Mommy’ – and that was it. Next thing I saw? My son was off playing with some kids.

I anxiously waited for noon to roll around. I got to school eager to find out how his day went.

Me: Buenos dias, so how was my son today?

Principal: Ay, muy bien! He was wonderful, spent the entire morning in class with his peers and even participated in gym class at 9am.

Me: Que bueno! So he didn’t cry?

Principal: No, not at all. In fact, there was music playing in his classroom today, and your son stood up and started to dance!

Me: REALLY? (Yay, Cristian!)

Principal: Si, really!

A moment later, C walked up with his lunchbox in hand and his artwork in the other. He had a huge smile on his face and looked happy to see me. Upon leaving, he sat on the school steps and decided to open his lunchbox and eat his yogurt. I sat next to him and we shared some crackers. It was nice. As we walked out the gates, he looked over his shoulder and waved to some kids drinking water, “Adios a todos!” he shouted. The teachers all laughed!

When we got to the car – I surprised him with a little gift on his car seat. It was a Buzz Lightyear action figure holding a lollypop. He was overjoyed. As was I…knowing that my little boy’ is starting to enjoy his new big boy’ journey… away from home... away from his mommy. (For only 3 hours!)

To Infinity and Beyond!
