Side by Side or Front to Back

I’ve always thought from behind is better. Much more comfortable with easier access, sideways just looks awkward. I don’t think I could handle the width. Though I’ve never actually tried it, it looks harder to manage and maneuver.

I’m talking about strollers – that is!

So, now that we have baby #2 only weeks away from joining our crazy clan, we’re considering purchasing a double stroller. I never thought I would actually be using one of those, but with a newborn baby and a tiny man who’ll only be a year-and-a-half old next month – I’m seriously considering it.

Double Stroller vs. Local Mall Stores

I’ve gone online and shopped around. However, before I continue, I must decide which is better.

A) Having my kids sitting side by side – sharing snacks, toys and entertaining each other. (Possibly followed by hair pulling and screaming matches?!)

B) Having my kids sitting front to back – unable to share toys, snacks, hair pulling and allowing their mom easy access to shopping malls and her favorite shoe stores without knocking over displays etc…

I think I know the answer…..but audience – I need your help.
I’ve decided to use a ‘life-line’ for this matter….what's your opinion or advice?

  1. How about this?! What if you strap one child to your chest ( I don't know what that thing is called... a baby backpack??)and push the other child in a single stroller... not sure if that's possible... or even practical!! An idea none the less!!!

    Happy Stroller Hunting!!

  2. Hey! I've never had a side by side stroller so can't really comment on that one but they do look like they would be difficult for shopping or going through door ways. I had a front to back stroller and it wasn't bad. You could flip the front seat so they could be face to face or front to back.
    Hope this helps a little!

  3. Yeah, I'm with Antonella -- for the first little while you can wear a bjorn or a trekker for the baby and continue to push C in the stroller. I think the best options I've seen are the ones where the second seat is behind but slightly higher than the front seat so that everyone gets a good view.

Nate refuses to sit, so I'm getting one of the ones that has the standup part at the back for the toddler. He can walk, but sometimes you want to get somewhere in 10 minutes instead of an hour. I think that's the best option for us.

Oh and Nate had a thrombosis -- they think. They never really know what they are talking about. The C-section should prevent any complications with the thrombosis. Did they tell you to walk a lot? Is it too late to get it to dissolve?
